Statement by the Iranian Constitutional Monarchist Organization on Canada Day
On the occasion of Canada Day, the Iranian Constitutional Monarchist Organization extends its warmest congratulations to the great people of Canada, the Government of Canada, and all Canadians, especially members of the Iranian-Canadian community.
Canada Day is more than the anniversary of a nation's founding. It is a celebration of the enduring values upon which Canada has been built—freedom, democracy, the rule of law, human dignity, respect for human rights, and the peaceful coexistence of people from every background.
For millions of Iranians, Canada represents not only a land of opportunity, but also a symbol of liberty, security, and respect for human dignity—values for which the people of Iran have paid an enormous price over more than four decades.
While Canadians proudly celebrate their national day, many Iranians continue to mourn the tragic events of the past few months, which claimed the lives of more than 40,000 of our compatriots, including many young men, women, and teenagers. Countless families remain in mourning, while political prisoners, families seeking justice, and freedom-loving Iranians continue to look toward the day when their homeland will once again enjoy freedom, justice, and the rule of law.
For this reason, although Iranian Canadians deeply appreciate the freedom, security, and generosity of the Canadian people, many cannot celebrate this year's Canada Day with the same joy as in previous years. Their hearts remain with their suffering homeland.
Yet we firmly believe that the pursuit of freedom knows no borders. The very principles that Canadians celebrate today are the same aspirations that millions of Iranians hold for their own future: a free, prosperous, united, democratic Iran founded upon human rights and the rule of law.
The Iranian Constitutional Monarchist Organization also hopes that the Government of Canada will continue to safeguard the country's national security by taking firm action against terrorism and preventing individuals, operatives, and networks affiliated with the Islamic Republic from threatening the safety, freedom, and peace of Canadians. We believe that confronting such networks serves not only Canada's national interest but also the aspirations of millions of Iranians who seek freedom and democracy.
On this special day, we pay tribute to the people of Canada and reaffirm the enduring friendship between the peoples of Canada and Iran. We look forward to the day when the people of Iran will also be able to celebrate their own national day in a free, peaceful, democratic nation with the same pride, hope, and security that Canadians enjoy today.
Happy Canada Day.
Long Live Canada. Long Live Iran.
